Mizuno JPX923 Series irons offer something for everyone

So, what defines good looks and performance? No, not Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise. Mizuno, of course, the brand synonymous with golf clubs that not only stand out in a bag, but deliver unmatched performance on the course. The JPX923 Series adds another exciting chapter to the story.

Mizuno’s Swing DNA System records 40 unique data points from more than 175,000 golfers each year. This data provides the basis for every JPX Iron project, including the five JPX923 models. The data showed that a one-size-fits-all model wouldn’t fit all the needs of golfers attracted to the Mizuno brand.

The JPX923 family features five unique iron models created from three specific metals. The expanded head options combine with one of over 50 custom shafts for specific trajectory, ball speed and ease of use to create options for players of all levels.

This latest chapter in the highly successful JPX story starts with the JPX923 Tour. Built using Mizuno’s now famous grain flow forging, the Tour model has a copper underlay for even smoother impact, a new V-Chassis to control vibration, narrower top line and sole, and a shallow cavity. The scoring clubs from 6-iron to gap wedge have a noticeably shorter blade length. It’s available in 4-iron to gap wedge, righthanded only.

The JPX923 Forged is a midsize cavity-back, featuring Chromoly Forging in the 4- to 7-iron. This incorporates a milling slot that extends wider to heel and toe. Paired with an even thinner clubface it creates Mizuno’s highest one-piece forged ball speeds from an even greater portion of the clubface. The irons have a thinner top line throughout, plus compact scoring irons (8-GW) and bevelled sole for improved turf interaction. It’s available in 4-iron to gap wedge, righthanded and lefthanded.

Rounding out the JPX923 Series are the JPX923 Hot MetalJPX923 Hot Metal Pro and
JPX923 Hot Metal HL all featuring new, faster Nickel Chromoly, which is 35% stronger than Mizuno’s original Chromoly and enables a high-energy, thinner clubface.

The Hot Metal irons are all about control and length. The seamless cup face construction delivers the deep centre of gravity needed for a high launch and controllable landing angle for increased stopping power whilst the thinnest part of the sole has been extended 18% wider to create a wider high-energy area on the face for more consistent ball speeds.

The Hot Metal Pro is a player’s speed cavity that’s compact, with minimal offset for confident ball-strikers seeking maximum ball speed. It’s suitable for low to mid handicap golfers.

The design and introduction of the Hot Metal HL was driven by Mizuno fitting data that showed an increase in the number of players with slightly slower swing speeds— and a trend to more shaft lean. This resulted in Mizuno increasing bounce angles throughout all the models. Designed for mid- to high-handicap players, the Hot Metal HL is a high launch speed cavity, its higher launching capability suited to players with moderate swing speeds or aggressive shaft lean. It’s available in 5-sand wedge, righthanded only.

Also new are the set-matching JPX923 Hot Metal wedges, designed to fit seamlessly with the JPX923 Hot Metal or Hot Metal Pro.

The Hot Metal models will launch at retail Oct. 13. The Tour and Pro versions won’t hit retail until February 2023. All JPX923 irons will be available through the Mizuno Custom Program, which offers one of the widest selections of no upcharge shafts and grips in the industry.
