MARTIN PLANTE FROM BALMORAL GOLF CLUB WINS THE PGA QUEBEC INAUGURAL EDUCATION SERIES

The Education Series: Callaway Championship was held on at beautiful Royal Quebec Golf Club today. It was the first time the PGA of Quebec held an education event followed by a professional competition. Callaway Golf presented the education portion in the morning and in windy conditions in the afternoon, the pros teed it up in the Callaway Championship.

The professionals played the Royal course from the black tees which measured 6728 yards. Martin Plante (Balmoral Golf Club) won the individual competition with a score of 70 (-2). The pairing composed of Marc Girouard (Le Diamant Golf Club) and Mario Forget won the team competition with a score of -4.

“I think it’s really important what we’re doing, we have to all be involved, this was a great event to learn, and share our experience, combined with a golf tournament, it was a perfect day. Thanks to David Tremblay and Callaway Golf, and what’s important is for us PGA pros be here and get together,” explained Martin Plante while accepting the winner’s trophy.

I would also like to thank the Royal Quebec Golf Club, Mario Bouchard and his entire team for their warm welcome and for the impressive quality of the Royal course today. A big thank you also to Molson Coors for the association’s events throughout the summer, the Callaway Championship was the second leg counting towards the Coors Light Order of Merit, which will identify the Quebec teams going to the PGA of Canada Championships in the fall, ” said Dominic Racine, Executive Director of the PGA of Quebec.

The Education Series: Callaway Championship was the first event of its kind, that included morning training presented by Callaway’s Jean-Philippe Piché and Le Mirage’s David Tremblay. The event allowed PGA of Quebec members to get together, to keep mastering their golf professional skills. The next events on the PGA of Quebec Tour will be the Pro-Am for Kids presented by Hadassah-WIZO at Hillsdale Golf Club in Mirabel on July 11th, the Cobra Puma Championship at L’Épiphanie Golf Club on July 15th, and the second leg of the Education Series: Ping and BPG Championship at Whitlock Golf Club on July 29th.
