The Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) and Toro Announce the 2017 CGSA/Toro Future Superintendent of the Year Award Winner

The CGSA and The Toro Company are pleased to announce Marco China, Assistant in Training at St. George’s Golf & Country Club as the 2017 winner of the CGSA/Toro Future Superintendent of the Year Award.

The CGSA/Toro Future Superintendent of the Year award was established in 1998 and recognizes a full-time student member of CGSA who is completing their graduating year in a CGSA recognized turf management program.  The nominees are interviewed by a panel comprised of two representatives of the Toro Company (the award sponsor), and a CGSA Past President.

Marco completed his Associate Diploma in Turfgrass Management at the University of Guelph in April 2017.

Mr. China will receive the CGSA/Toro Future Superintendent of the Year Award at the 2018 CGSA Awards ceremony in Quebec City on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 as part of The Canadian Golf Course Management Conference.

Stephen Fleischauer, Director, Associate Diploma in Turfgrass Management at the University of Guelph nominated Marco for the award and noted that he was “One of our most proficient and accomplished students in the Associate Diploma in Turfgrass Management program at the University of Guelph.” “He is passionate about turf management and strives to both learn and implement the many skills that will, ultimately, define him as a top superintendent”.
