Richmond golf course fined $70,000 for dumping fill

Savage Creek Golf Course Ltd. received a penalty of $70,000 after dumping more than a million cubic metres of fill on its land while expanding an 18-hole golf course in the Agricultural Land Reserve.

They were given the “administrative penalty,” according to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, for the excess fill. Fill typically contains soil, wood waste and other material.

The provincial government just released its quarterly environmental enforcement summaries for the third and fourth quarters of 2018, which included the Richmond golf course fine.
