The PGA of Ontario is thrilled to announce that Global Futurist Jim Carroll will be a featured keynote speaker at our upcoming fall Golf Industry Expo in Kitchener.

Jim Carroll is one of the world’s leading international futurists, trends and innovation experts, with a client list that ranges from Mercedes Benz to Volvo, the Swiss Innovation Forum to the National Australia Bank; the Walt Disney Organization to NASA. A native of Mississauga, he’ll be fitting us in between events in San Diego and Morocco (where he will be the opening keynote speaker for a major event for the World Bank).

Jim’s global client list gives him a front row seat to the high velocity change that is occurring as disruption comes to take hold of every industry and every organization. With that insight, and the customized research that he undertakes for every engagement, he helps to transform growth-oriented organizations into high-velocity innovation heroes!

Organizations worldwide are working hard to determine what to do in the era of acceleration and disruption – and in large numbers, turn to Jim for the high-level strategic guidance into the trends they must align to and the strategies they need to adopt.

A member of Credit Valley Golf and Country Club, Jim has been invited in twice by the President of the PGA of America to address opportunities for growth and innovation within the industry. In 2010, then President Jim Remy invited Jim to open the 94th Annual General Meeting of the PGA of America to challenge 500 golf pros as to how to think about innovation and future trends. Jim was the first external speaker the PGA had ever engaged to speak at their AGM. He was also invited to open the 2016 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, with a similar message of opportunity and innovation.

A 12 handicap, he has high hopes that he has helped to shape the future direction of the world’s largest sport. He’s also hoping to inspire you in a similar way in Kitchener.

Nick is the Vice President of Instruction for GOLFTEC. He is responsible for the quality of instruction given during the one million lessons that GOLFTEC’s 700 plus Coaches teach annually. He has been a PGA Tour Credentialed Instructor for the past eleven consecutive years. Golf Digest has ranked Nick #33 on their Best Teachers in America list, Best Young Teacher List, #1 on Golf Digest Best in State of Colorado Instructor list, and previously on the list of Best Instructors in Illinois. He is a regular guest on Golf Channel Morning Drive appearances and he creates and manages over 300 pieces of content annually that air on Golf Channel.

Nick specializes in creating and training a systematic approach toward golf instruction which has enabled GOLFTEC Coaches to view a golf swing and golf instruction similarly. Within his own teaching, he has used nearly every device in the industry including: GEARS, AMM, Foresight GC2/HMT/Quad, TrackMan, Flightscope, BodiTrak. In addition to his role at GOLFTEC, Nick has spoken at numerous PGA Section events in the US, Canada, Spain, and Germany as well as delivered content associated with the recent GOLFTEC-PGA Alliance at the 2017 National PGA Teaching and Coaching Summit, at PGA Section events, Golf Biomechanics Seminars, and PGM Universities.

Presentation Reviews

Nick Clearwater, GOLFTEC’s VP of Instruction, was one of the first individuals identified by a group of his peers on the Section Education Committee to present at the Colorado PGA’s Fall Teaching & Coaching Summit.  The Summit featured some of the very best instructors and coaches in the Colorado Section, and was attended by instructors and PGA Members representing the full geographical reach of the Section.  His presentation, which focused on the use of Big Data and GOLFTEC’s SwingTRU Motion Study, was incredibly well received in a room of instructors with diverse backgrounds and instructional preferences.  In an increasingly crowded and divisive instructional climate, it is my opinion that GOLFTEC’s approach to research and coaching helps to provide clear, measurable data and a common language around golf instruction that is sorely needed.  Nick’s presentations contrast with the current state of an industry that would benefit from a more cohesive approach to growing the game through coaching and instruction.

—Keith Soriano, PGA Career Consultant

Nick Clearwater from GOLFTEC recently presented “How Big Data is Changing Golf Instruction and How it Can Improve Your Teaching” at the Southern Texas PGA Annual Meeting.   It was an excellent presentation on GOFTEC’s SwingTRU Motion Study, which included many case studies and discussion regarding how the data can help golf instructors in their everyday teaching.  It was a highly rated presentation within our membership and I would strongly recommend it as an education opportunity for PGA Professionals.

—Dr. Rich Ballinger, PGA Master Professional, Director of Sam Houston State University PGA Golf Management Program, & Southern Texas PGA Education Chair

In the Illinois section we have had a Teaching and Coaching Summit for the last 10 years.  Last year we invited Nick Clearwater, Vice President of Instruction to present.  He gave a very unbiased researched based presentation that was truly thought provoking and had the audience engaged.  Nick did not present GOLFTEC’s philosophy. He only presented an unbiased view of their proprietary research and gave everyone in the room things they could go back to their facility and use immediately.  We will DEFINITELY invite him back again!
