Gord Chilton begins a new chapter in his professional life at Sleepy Hollow Country Club.
After serving his PGA of Canada apprenticeship at some of the finer courses in the York and Durham area, including Sleepy Hollow, the Markham resident is now the head golf professional at the Stouffville-area private club.
General manager Gary Betts feels the former NCAA All-American at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania is an excellent fit.
“Gord has been with us at Sleepy Hollow for most of the past five seasons and has been an incredibly popular member of our staff,” said Betts, who served as Sleepy Hollow’s professional for over 20 years.
“Gord is also a tremendous player, an excellent teacher and so knowledgeable on equipment and club fitting — attributes that we see in dedicated and focused individuals who have built their lives around successful golf careers.”
New owners took charge at Sleepy Hollow in November and are investing considerable resources in the club, including renovations in the clubhouse.
Focus will shift to the exterior of the building, entrance, clubhouse facade and the parking lot as the weather improves. The vision is to improve the entire facility, modernizing the systems and investing in the equipment throughout the club.
