GolfNorth is thrilled to announce that it has entered into a lease for the operations of The Ridge at Manitou, effective January 1, 2020. Located on Lake Manitouwabing (approximately 20 minutes east of Parry Sound) it is consistently in the conversation when golfers discuss the best of the Muskoka courses. The Tom McBroom designed masterpiece winds out and back, through 300 acres of Muskoka wilderness, culminating in a stunning finishing hole which descends to the shores of Lake Manitouwabing, where the spacious clubhouse sits perched on the rocky shore.
The course opened for limited play in 2004 (fully in 2005) and has received numerous awards for the course design, service, and overall experience. It’s been ranked the 12th best course in Ontario (Ontario Golf), the 17th best public course in Canada (Score Magazine), the best new course in Canada in 2006 (Golf Digest) and was recently awarded the prestigious President’s Award by the Muskoka Chamber of Commerce. “Once players get past the awesome beauty of the property, they soon realize just how great Tom McBroom’s design really is. The Ridge at Manitou would be a great golf course, even without the breathtaking scenery,” said Doug Breen, GolfNorth VP and Chief Agronomist. “It truly is a ‘bucket-list’ course, which needs to be played to be appreciated”
While golf may be the primary attraction to The Ridge at Manitou, the patio, dining room, and large screened porches at the Clubhouse, are favourite ways to end a day on the links—or as a destination all their own. There’s nothing like watching the sun go down over the Lake, while enjoying dinner in a classic Muskoka cottage, beside the heat of the grand fireplace and the accompanying sound of loons.
