Eagle Crest owner to take over Greenwood club

Golf will be played at Greenwood, thanks to the owner of Eagle Crest Golf Course.

Osbourne Ward, owner and president of the Centreville track, said in an interview on Friday that he will assume operational control of 14 Wing Greenwood golf club, which was supposed to close for good in October.

Ward said a partnership will be formed between the two clubs and membership will encompass both Greenwood and Eagle Crest.

“I knew Greenwood was going to close unless someone took it over,” said Ward, who has operated Eagle Crest since it opened in 1994. “This opportunity was the best opportunity for me and Eagle Crest because it’s only 30 minutes from our course. It’s a great opportunity for our members to have dual membership.

“It’s like what Ashburn has,” he added, referring to the private golf club which has a course in Halifax and another in Windsor Junction.
