Levelwear, athlete Ted Potter Jr. played nearly flawless golf on-route to his second career PGA Tour victory by winning the 2018 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am by 3 strokes. Potter who was tied for the lead with the world #1 ranked golfer, Dustin Johnson, going into Sunday’s round only made one blemish on his first hole of the day and then showed nerves of steel as he sailed to victory over a star studded leaderboard.
Potter, who is a lefty from Ocala, Florida, shot a career-low 62 at Monterrey Peninsula Country Club on Saturday to position himself in the final group going into Sunday. The Saturday round flirted with the magical 59 but two late bogeys left him just short. His rock solid play continued Sunday as he made only 1 bogey which was off-set by 4 birdies in his final round to claim victory over some of the finest players in the world, including Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Jason Day and a red hot Chez Reavie.
A brand ambassador with Levelwear since coming back from a career threatening ankle injury 3 seasons ago, Potter wore the Thermo base layer in heather grey along with the new Metric polo in Hibiscus during Sunday’s final round. The combination proved perfect for keeping Ted warm as the wind picked up on the final holes and allowed him the comfort and protection to take on the course in confidence in the early parts of the round.
The breakout win will undoubtedly change his reputation from mini-tour legend and PGA Tour journeyman to multiple winner on the PGA Tour. With the win Potter collects the first prize cheque of $1.332,000, a 2-year exemption on the PGA Tour, an invitation to The Masters in April, and moves him from 117th to 15th on the Fed-Ex Cup rankings.
