GOLFER DIES AFTER CRASHING CART INTO POND

Earlier this week police were called to DiamondBack Golf Club in Richmond Hill Ontario to report a golf cart driving into a pond and a possible drowning.

Police say they learned a golf cart and a man were both submerged in the pond. Fire crews attempted an unsuccessful underwater recovery, and the York Regional Police Marine unit was called in to help.

Apparently, the golfer lost control of the golf cart before going into the pond and other golfers on the course tried to locate the individual before police arrived.

“Other golfers on the course tried to locate the individual before police arrived,” said Mitchell.

The man’s body was found by York Regional Police’s marine unit. The golf cart was also found underwater.

The identity of the deceased man will not be revealed, citing his family’s request for privacy.

Police are still trying to determine how the golf cart found its way into the pond. It’s also not known whether the man was operating the cart alone or whether he was with other golfers at the time of the crash.

Police recovered the body of a 71-year-old man say the death does not appear suspicious.
