The City is selling the John Blumberg Golf Course. On Friday, Coun. Janice Lukes (Waverly West) told the Winnipeg Sun the 27-hole property in Headingley will be placed on the market to “see what happens.”
“Six years prior to me being here it was declared surplus,” she said. “There was a lease, and the lease is done. And now we are looking either for a joint venture, a one on one, or a complete sale.”
The City is stepping up the implementation of community gardens.
Lukes explained that she put a motion forward, and “now in all new developments, that we consider space over and above the park space, (we can have) community gardens. They are going to figure out how they are going to do it, but that’s the intent (of the motion), to work with the Winnipeg Food Council to ensure that we find locations or we have allocations of property over and above parks.”
