Mizuno’s tour presence continues to grow — even among players not under contract to the company — and so has the demand from everyday players. Many consumers are turning to Mizuno via online research. Drivers like the ST200 models have received excellent and unbiased reviews from respected websites like MyGolfSpy and WRX, and from popular YouTube personalities like Rick Shiels, who’s always been a big fan of Mizuno irons, including the latest JPX 921 series.
Such online recognition has helped to drive Canadian sales through the roof, with custom orders up 50 per cent this year. Mizuno expects that trend to continue. The push is on to market and sell woods — more and more are showing up on tour — and the company has doubled its wood market share over the last two years.
The new lineup of clubs features everything from classic muscle-back irons to the new JPX 921 series. It’s available in three mid-size forged models: The Tour, the current iron of choice on tour, and one designed for better players; the Forged, which offers the fastest ball speeds Mizuno has ever produced from a fully forged iron; and the Hot Metal, which is designed for the everyday player and produces added forgiveness and Mizuno’s fastest ball speeds ever.
Mizuno feels that customized fitting is essential. Their fitting platform, the Shaft Optimizer, is second to none. First introduced in 2010, the latest version takes easy-to-use fitting technology to another level.
While the previous optimizer measured key swing characteristics like clubhead speed, tempo and release, the new version does all of that and more. The addition of a gyroscope and Bluetooth allows for a more efficient and accurate shaft fitting. Besides recalibrating after every swing, the gyroscope most importantly has the ability to measure dynamic lie angle, and do it more accurately than the traditional lie board. Bluetooth removes the need for the fitter to transpose swing data from the optimizer to the app.
The Shaft Optimizer is a great timesaver and selling tool for the pro, who can benefit from faster fittings. Mizuno currently has 100 fitting carts in green grass shops across Canada. We’ll accommodate any club if possible, and provide personal instruction on how to use the optimizer.
It’s but one of several reasons why green grass shops should carry Mizuno. Brand awareness is growing, and exciting new products are coming in 2021. We offer aggressive sales programs and make it easy to buy in to carry Mizuno. We don’t ask for a huge buy and our margins are very attractive. And when you’re our partner, we’ll go that extra mile to help you maximize Mizuno sales.
