Keith Tucker Remembered

For the second week in a row, the Canadian golf industry has lost an industry veteran. Last week with Bob Fair passing away and now this week we are sadden to learn that Keith Tucker departed on April 20, 2020, at 84-years-old.

Keith was a lifelong golf industry representative selling many key brands over nearly 70 years in the industry.  Keith “loved the golf industry” said Randy McDonald publisher of Pro Shop Magazine and the golfindustrynetwork.ca. “Each year Keith would call me or write me a letter to make sure he would receive each issue of Pro Shop magazine as he wanted to keep in touch with the industry” said McDonald. He always knew your name and greeted you like a long lost relative.  Keith had a positive influence on many people within the industry and could be found attending many events each year to network with people.  His main philosophy in life was be happy every day.

Keith’s career started in 1948, when he sold green fees, golf balls and confections. He moved on to manage sales and sales representatives’ positions that saw him move around the country. While working in the industry and supporting the CPGA (PGA Canada) was a lifelong interest. Last year Tucker was recognized as an honorary life member in front of a packed boardroom of close friends and family at the PGA of Canada’s national office.

“His contributions to the game and Canadian golfing community were second-to-none,” said PGA of Canada CEO Kevin Thistle. “Keith will be remembered as a kind-hearted and generous man, revered by his family, friends and fellow colleagues.”

In retirement Tucker’s true passion excelled.  Keith loved helping others in need and did pet therapy. Keith just wanted to help in any way he could. In a local community article a few years ago Keith said “of all his accomplishments, it was his volunteering in the hospital that has given him the most joy. “I did my best for everybody,” he said.

Keith thanks for everything you accomplished in your life and being a valuable member of the Canadian golf industry. You will be missed but not forgotten.
