GolfNorth Properties Purchases Tamarack Ridge Golf Club in Putnam On. and Takes Over Operations at Wolf Creek Golf Resort in Alberta

GolfNorth Properties, Canada’s largest golf course management company, announced that they are further expanding their presence in the London golf market, with the acquisition of Tamarack Ridge Golf Club in Putnam, Ontario. GolfNorth took possession of the club on March 9th, 2023. This popular local par-71 course is over 6,000 yards from the back tees, and just off the 401 at Putnam Road.

“We’re thrilled to add Tamarack Ridge to the GolfNorth family.  Not only does the location make a lot of sense with our existing courses, but it’s a great place to spend the day.  Don’t let the par and yardage fool you – this is a real challenge for low handicaps, while still being fun for those with higher handicaps like me,” explained Doug Breen, Regional Vice President & Chief Agronomist at GolfNorth. “I was born and raised on a dairy farm right across the highway; so, in a way, this is a homecoming for me.”

Tamarack Ridge will become part of the GolfNorth multi-course membership program, giving Tamarack Ridge members discounts at many GolfNorth courses, and full access to 12 courses, including The Fox Golf Club (Granton), Cobble Hills Golf Club (Thamesford), Exeter Golf Club (Exeter), and Burford Golf Links (Burford), just to name a few.

The course will remain open to members and the public for golf – but also for dining, special events, corporate outings, tournaments, and meetings. Everyone is invited to experience the hospitality, friendly service, and attentive staff – inside the cozy clubhouse or outside on the spacious patio.

GolfNorth Properties is a golf and resort management company, based in Kitchener-Waterloo Ontario.  Founded in 1994, the company has expanded steadily, and is the national leader in the consolidation and management of golf properties. With the addition of Tamarack Ridge, GolfNorth now operates 39 golf properties in Canada, from British Columbia to Nova Scotia.

GolfNorth Properties also announced that they are ‘Alberta Bound’, with the acquisition of Wolf Creek Golf Resort, in Ponoka, Alberta. GolfNorth will take over operations on March 15, 2023; the purchase includes the Old Course, the Links Course, and the lodgings.

Wolf Creek boasts two original Rod Whitman designs (Cabot Links, Sagebrush, Blackhawk). The Old Course is a tour-tested, pure inland links course, winding in and out of the Wolf Creek bed. Each hole provides a variety of strategical options for players to discover. Creative shot-making and precision are the key to playing your best on the Old Course.

Whitman followed up with an excellent example of the evolution of old-world golf design with the Links Course. Cut through vast natural sand dunes and longer off the back tees, the Links Course demands the best from all areas of your game. Additional fairway width gives the Links Course beautiful rolling contours unique to sand belt golf courses.

A fixture for 13 years on the Canadian Tour, Wolf Creek hosted the Alberta Open, receiving worldwide publicity and exposure.

The on-site Wolf Creek RV Resort includes seventy lots, with a range of both short and long-term rentals. There is also a rental Lodge which is perfect for a golf getaway with friends or family.

GolfNorth President Shawn Evans had this to say, “GolfNorth is very happy to have a foothold in Alberta, and we wish to extend a warm welcome to members and players alike. We’ve met with principal staff members, and want to welcome them to the GolfNorth family as well. We’re thrilled to have been given the opportunity to be the stewards of these two excellent golf courses for years to come.”

GolfNorth plans to be a force for positive disruption in Central Alberta, as the two courses are conveniently located on the Queen Elizabeth II highway between Edmonton and Calgary. Members and regular players will continue to enjoy these excellent courses, but GolfNorth will use the RV Park, the Lodge, and Stay & Play Packages—to expose Wolf Creek to the rest of Canada and the World.
