Elmwood Golf Course celebrating 100th anniversary with grand-reopening in early July

Elmwood Golf Club in Swift Current is celebrating their 100th anniversary and grand reopening July 5-7.

Plans include a Friday evening social mixer at the clubhouse, a 2-day mixed alternate shot golf tournament, a ribbon cutting ceremony and an outdoor cabaret on the driving range Saturday evening. All events are open to the public.

Elmwood Golf Club opened in 1919 (originally known as the Swift Current Golf Club) as a private 9-hole course. Many changes have taken place over the years including moving the layout from the Ashley Park area to its current location.  The clubhouse was once The Webb interpretive Centre and was moved to Elmwood by truck in 1991.

In 2014 the Board, supported by the membership, proposed an entire course renovation.  Driven by the necessity to improve their greens, Elmwood hired Golf Design Services; GDS and Les Furber.

To facilitate the project, Elmwood Golf Club and the City of Swift Current entered into a unique partnership that created the new 82 lot housing development Cypress Point.
