Blue Ocean and Lowe Golf tee it up for kids on the Coast

Youth on the Sunshine Coast who may have found golf inaccessible will now have an opportunity to start playing a game they can enjoy for a lifetime. This July, Lowe Golf Scores with Blue Ocean Golf Club will be hosting an inaugural charity tournament to raise funds to supply Annual Junior Memberships at Blue Ocean Golf Club.

The tournament is set for Saturday, July 20 at 1:30 p.m. and there are spaces available for 72 players.

Chris Lowe, teaching professional at Blue Ocean Golf and owner of Lowe Golf Scores, started as a junior member at Point Grey and knows firsthand about what being involved early with golf can do. His passion for the game has been the driving factor to create the opportunity for other children to start their golfing experience.

“Over my 20-year teaching career, I’ve had the pleasure of running similar tournaments and programs,” Lowe said. “I have seen the joy both the parents and children receive when they are provided the opportunity to be part of the golfing community.”

Lowe and his spouse Janai York, who have just recently moved to the Sunshine Coast, believe that creating opportunities to invest in youth is a great way to give back to the community.

Ed Boni, head professional at Blue Ocean, said: “We are extremely proud and excited to host the first annual Fundraising Tournament for Junior Golf. We plan to ensure that this event will not only be fun and enjoyable for all participants but will be the kickoff to support Junior Golf for many years ahead.”

Proceeds from the tournament will provide full Junior Annual Memberships, as well as lessons, rental clubs, range balls, and accessories to ensure each new member is fully equipped and ready to play.

Ken Langdon, general manager, encourages local golfers to register for the event and help “give back to the game” that has brought them countless hours of enjoyment. “Local businesses can get involved as sponsors, increasing their exposure, demonstrating their product or service and contributing to a healthy local economy and a great year-round activity for kids,” Langdon said.

Families interested in receiving Junior Annual Memberships should contact Chris Lowe at ccclowe@gmail.com. For more information call Lowe at 604-317-0920 or the Blue Ocean Pro Shop at 604-885-2700.
